Massive 150 Grams of Heroin Seized from Suspected Peddler at Indo-Myanmar Border
India’s security forces apprehended an alleged drug peddler and seized contraband heroin on Sunday, suspected to have been smuggled across the Indo-Myanmar border via the porous Tengnoupal district of Manipur. The Manipur Police’s Anti-Narcotics Squad, collaborating with Kakching district police, arrested a 22-year-old man named Kokhol Khulan, a resident of Tarao Laimanai village in Chandel district, which borders Myanmar.
Authorities indicated that Khulan was part of a cross-border drug smuggling network, working in conjunction with associates in Myanmar. Acting on a tip-off collected through technological surveillance and human intelligence, the joint task force executed a surprise operation, successfully locating and arresting Khulan at a hideout in the Kakching region.
During the operation, officers confiscated nine soap cases containing 150 grams of heroin, known locally as No. 4, along with a two-wheeler and a mobile phone. A case has been filed against the accused, who has since been presented in court. Police reported that they secured a remand for further questioning to trace the origin of the narcotics and identify those intended to receive them.
