Guwahati Oil Theft Operation Thwarted: Two Arrested with 780 Litres Stolen Fuel
GUWAHATI: Two men have been arrested in Guwahati following the discovery of an oil theft operation during a late-night raid at a storage yard located in Sector-III, Noonmati. Acting on a tip-off, police successfully apprehended the suspects while they were stealing fuel.
The Guwahati Police took to social media platform X to confirm the incident. They reported that the Noonmati Police Station’s CGPD team executed the raid based on intelligence received, leading to the dismantling of the oil theft racket. The suspects, identified as Ajay Choudhary from Lichu Bagan and Binod Sharma from Narengi, were caught in the act. Authorities seized 13 drums containing approximately 780 liters of stolen oil, two empty drums, a three-wheeler (registration AS01-R-4748), a TATA ACE Zip XL (AS25-DC-2490), and three mobile phones believed to be part of the criminal operation.
Both suspects are currently in custody for further questioning as legal proceedings are underway. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about fuel theft in the region and the efforts authorities are making to combat such illegal activities.
