US President Donald Trump has endorsed Republican Vivek Ramaswamy for the position of Governor of Ohio. Ramaswamy previously competed against Trump for the presidential nomination but lost to him in the Iowa caucuses last year. Following that defeat, he endorsed Trump’s presidential campaign.
In addition to his political aspirations, Ramaswamy was appointed by Trump to lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), working alongside Tesla CEO Elon Musk. However, he resigned from this role in January, citing “future plans” in Ohio.
In his endorsement post, Trump expressed his support, stating, “Vivek Ramaswamy is running for Governor of the Great State of Ohio, a place I love and won big three times in 2016, 2020, and 2024! I know Vivek well, competed against him, and he is something SPECIAL. He is Young, Strong, and Smart! Vivek is also a very good person, who truly loves our Country.”
Trump further outlined Ramaswamy’s vision if elected, promising that he would work diligently to boost the state’s economy, reduce taxes and regulations, advocate for American-made goods, ensure energy independence, maintain border security, combat migrant crime, strengthen military support for veterans, uphold law and order, protect election integrity, and defend the Second Amendment. Trump concluded with his full support for Ramaswamy, stating, “Vivek Ramaswamy will be a great Governor of Ohio, and has my complete and total endorsement – he will never let you down!”
