Agartala, Nov 5: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha officially laid the foundation stone for a private super speciality hospital, valued at Rs 900 crore, in RK Nagar, approximately 20 km from the city. During the ceremony, Saha announced that the state government has allocated 28 acres of land for the construction of the Shija Hospital. He also mentioned that the Shija Hospitals group, based in Manipur, has plans to establish a medical college in Tripura.
“We are committed to providing the best possible support to investors looking to invest in Tripura. This initiative will not only enhance healthcare services but also create significant employment opportunities for the local population,” stated the Chief Minister. He emphasized that only reputable institutions with demonstrated success would be granted such opportunities, and assured that a robust monitoring system is in place to facilitate the project’s smooth progress.
Saha further noted that a planned ring road around Agartala city will provide improved connectivity for patients and healthcare providers by passing near the new hospital. Additionally, he revealed that a group from Silchar has expressed interest in establishing a cancer hospital in Tripura, which has been positively received by the government. The capital will also see the construction of another flyover and a ‘Unity Mall’ aimed at upgrading infrastructure and boosting trade.
“Tripura is advancing rapidly in development,” the Chief Minister asserted, adding that at a recent business summit in Guwahati, investors pledged Rs 30,000 crore across the North Eastern region, with Rs 15,000 crore specifically allocated for Tripura. Expressing confidence in the state’s growth prospects, Saha stated, “Tripura will soon undergo a remarkable transformation and stand out as a model state once the ongoing development of six major tourist sites is completed.”
