Minister Assesses Progress of Advantage Assam 2.0 in Silchar: Key Insights
Assam’s Industries, Commerce, and Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Borah conducted a review of the follow-up actions regarding the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit. Emphasizing the effective implementation of these agreements, he aimed to ensure balanced development throughout the state. The review meeting took place at the Cachar district commissioner’s office on Sunday evening, where Borah assessed the progress of key projects in Cachar and neighboring districts. He commended the proactive efforts of the district administration, noting that they reflect the government’s development-oriented vision.
“The MoUs from Advantage Assam 2.0 are not just paperwork; they represent actionable commitments driving real change,” Borah stated. He highlighted significant investments resulting from the summit, including the upcoming Medanta Super Speciality Hospital, Cocoon Mother and Childcare Hospital, and Lemon Tree Premier Hotel, which are pivotal for Assam’s healthcare and hospitality sectors. Additionally, he pointed to PepsiCo’s Rs 700-crore investment in Nalbari as indicative of rising investor confidence. Borah noted that Assam’s business environment is evolving, with streamlined procedures and reforms drawing increased domestic and foreign investments.
In his remarks, he underscored the government’s commitment to inclusive and balanced growth, stressing the importance of ensuring that development benefits reach all segments of society. Furthermore, he mentioned that Assam is undergoing a “cultural renaissance,” citing successful events like the Mega Bihu and Jhumur Binondini festivals as unifying experiences for the state’s people. Concluding the meeting, Borah urged officials to remain closely coordinated and dedicated to executing the MoU-linked projects, stating, “Development only matters when it impacts people’s lives. The stronger our connection with the public, the faster Assam will advance.”
