President Donald Trump has recently sparked global concern by alleging that Pakistan is actively conducting nuclear tests. In a statement justifying this claim, he suggested that if leading nuclear powers are testing, the United States might soon follow suit. Simultaneously, U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry clarified that the nuclear tests Trump referred to will involve no detonations but will purely focus on system testing.
Moreover, President Putin formally signed an agreement to terminate the Plutonium Disposal Agreement with the United States. This agreement had previously been established to limit the production of materials suitable for nuclear weapons.
Trump’s comments on Pakistan’s nuclear testing have raised significant alarm. It’s widely acknowledged that India and Pakistan currently have nearly equal numbers of nuclear weapons. Consequently, Trump’s claims are likely to provoke fresh concerns regarding national security in India.
