Shocking Arrest: Two Caught in High-Stakes Smuggling of Mosquito Repellent Incense Sticks to Sri Lanka!
The Ramanathapuram police made a significant arrest on Sunday morning, apprehending two individuals who attempted to smuggle 12 cartons of mosquito repellent incense sticks to Sri Lanka via boat. The operation unfolded in the Cherankottai coastal area when Q Branch police inspector Janaki and her team noticed suspicious activity involving two men unloading parcels from a vehicle.
Upon investigating, officers discovered 720 boxes of mosquito repellent incense sticks. The arrested suspects, identified as 21-year-old D. Muneeshkumar and 27-year-old S. Eswaramoorthy, both residents of Rameswaram, were found to have concealed the products near the coast. Their plan involved using an unregistered fiberglass boat, which was docked near Arichalmunai, to transport the goods illegally across the waters to Sri Lanka.
After apprehending the duo, law enforcement seized the cartons of incense sticks and subsequently handed over the confiscated items to the Customs Department for further action. This incident highlights ongoing efforts by local authorities to combat smuggling activities along the coast, a challenge that continues to persist in the region.
