Uncovering the Truth: How Singapore Police Reports Enhance SIT Investigations
SIT chief SDGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta announced that three crucial reports have been received from the Singapore Police, which will aid in the ongoing investigation into Zubeen Garg’s death. Gupta confirmed that the charge sheet for the case will be submitted on time, with Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma indicating a deadline of December 17.
Speaking to the media, Gupta explained that the Singapore police responded positively to the request for Mutual Legal Assistance. The reports include important data, such as the toxicology report and the final post-mortem findings, as well as documents requested from the Singapore Port and Marine Authority. He emphasized the significance of these reports for advancing the investigation.
While Gupta refrained from revealing the reports’ specific contents, he stated they would be presented to the court upon completion of the investigation. He responded similarly to comments made by the Chief Minister regarding the investigation’s direction and the use of the term “murder” in the case.
Regarding the December 17 deadline, Gupta affirmed, “We’ll complete the investigation within the deadline. We anticipate receiving the necessary statements under Singapore law. Our team is collecting statements from key individuals related to the case, having already gathered over 100 testimonies.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sarma underscored the SIT’s progress, describing the reports obtained as “very good and explosive.” He expressed confidence that details regarding Zubeen Garg’s incident would be shared by December 10, a date earlier than the announced deadline. He mentioned that the public would be presented with a mix of surprising, sad, and possibly anger-inducing details, noting the emotional impact of Zubeen’s story over the years.
The SIT has also summoned actor Partha Hazarika and businessman Rishiraj Borkataki for questioning as part of the inquiry.
