Uttar Pradesh has set a new Guinness World Record by illuminating 2,617,215 diyas during the Deepotsav celebration on November 9, 2023, across 56 ghats in Ayodhya, including the iconic Ram Ki Paidi. This year also marked another achievement, with 2,128 Vedacharyas performing a Maha Aarti and chanting sacred shlokas along the banks of the Saryu River, an event attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and various ministers.
Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized the significance of the diyas, stating that they symbolize the triumph of faith over 500 years of darkness. In addition to the celebrations in Ayodhya, over 15.1 million diyas will be lit throughout the entire state today, showcasing a widespread embrace of the festival of lights.
The evening festivities featured a spectacular Laser and Drone Show, where approximately 1,100 ‘Swadeshi’ drones illuminated the sky with images depicting scenes from the Ramayana, contributing to the grandeur of the event.
