Court Reveals Shocking Details of Firing Incident Outside Salman Khan’s Home
In a significant ruling, a special court has denied bail to Mohammed Rafique Sardar Chaudhary in connection with the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence. The court concluded that Chaudhary played an active role in the crime and was intentionally involved in organized criminal activities.
The bail plea was rejected on Monday, with the court citing allegations that Chaudhary conducted reconnaissance outside Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, filmed a video, and shared it with a co-accused. This incident, which occurred on April 14, 2024, further escalated the situation.
In its order, the court referenced Chaudhary’s confessional statement, indicating ongoing communication with the co-accused. It noted, “The confessional statement reflects that the applicant was continuously in contact with the co-accused. Following the incident, he was instructed to leave Mumbai, after which he traveled to Rajasthan. This indicates the applicant’s mens rea regarding the crime.”
Chaudhary contested the charges, arguing that there was no evidence of a video being sent and claiming that recording a public space does not imply any knowledge, intent, or motive for the alleged crime. He also pointed out the delay in the filing of the First Information Report (FIR) and questioned the applicability of the attempted murder charge under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code, arguing that Khan’s statement did not substantiate that the firing was directed at him.
Additionally, Chaudhary claimed he has no prior criminal record, denied involvement in any organized crime syndicate, and noted that he has already spent 14 months in jail while awaiting the commencement of his trial.
The court highlighted that Chaudhary received ₹8,000, which it interpreted as evidence of potential monetary gain linked to the crime.
