GUWAHATI: The Indian Railway has announced ticket prices for its newly launched direct train service connecting Sairang in Mizoram to Guwahati in Assam. The Sairang-Guwahati-Sairang Express was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, September 13, and will be operated by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone.
Designated as train numbers 15610 and 15609, this service will cover 494 kilometers in approximately 13 hours and 30 minutes, traveling through Lumding Junction to connect Mizoram with Assam’s capital. Operating daily, the new train service is expected to enhance regional connectivity and provide a dependable travel option for passengers.
The Sairang-Guwahati Express will make stops at 11 stations along its route, including Bairabi, Hailakandi, Kathakhal Junction, Badarpur Junction, New Harangajao, New Haflong, Maibong, Lumding, Hojai, Chaparmukh, and Jagi Road.
Equipped with 17 coaches, the train’s composition includes one AC-2 Tier coach, four AC-3 Tier coaches, six Sleeper Class coaches, four General Second Class coaches, one Brake, Luggage cum Generator Car, and one SLRD. This variety aims to accommodate both budget-friendly and long-distance travel needs.
Ticket fares have been set at ₹300 for Sleeper Class between Sairang and Guwahati, ₹800 for AC-3 Tier, and ₹1,130 for AC-2 Tier. Train number 15610 will depart Sairang at 7 PM, arriving in Guwahati at 8:30 AM. The return service, train number 15609, will leave Guwahati at 7 PM and reach Sairang at 8:30 AM.
Officials anticipate that this new train service will bolster regional trade, enhance tourism, and create job opportunities throughout the Northeast.
