Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Honors Legacy of Maganti Gopinath as Assembly Passes Heartfelt Condolence Motion and Adjourns Session
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy moved a condolence motion in the Legislative Assembly on Saturday, August 30, 2025, commemorating the life and contributions of Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, who passed away on June 8 at the age of 62. In a heartfelt tribute, Revanth Reddy emphasized the profound loss felt by Gopinath’s family and the community he served.
Remembering Gopinath’s extensive political journey, Revanth noted that he began his career as an influential student leader. His political affiliation with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) started in 1983, where he served as the president of Telugu Yuvata in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh from 1985 to 1992. Gopinath’s impactful services earned him prominent roles, including the Directorship of the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority from 1987 to 1988 and presidency of the District Consumer Forum from 1988 to 1993.
Revanth acknowledged Gopinath’s loyalty to N.T. Rama Rao and pointed out his remarkable electoral record, having been elected as MLA from Jubilee Hills for three consecutive terms. Gopinath was also recognized for his contributions to the film industry, producing several movies throughout his career. Despite their political differences, Revanth expressed a close personal bond with Gopinath, highlighting the leader’s unwavering dedication to his constituency.
K.T. Rama Rao, MLA from Sircilla and member of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), shared his shock at having to offer condolences to a colleague he viewed as a committed leader. He admired Gopinath’s tireless efforts for Jubilee Hills, a locality that, while known for its affluence, also houses several slums. Gopinath, affectionately called ‘Gopanna’, was celebrated for championing the rights of the marginalized and introducing initiatives like distributing Bathukamma sarees to young women in the community.
Rama Rao further pointed out Gopinath’s resilience, noting that he remained steadfastly loyal to the BRS amid political challenges. He described Gopinath as both a “classy personality” and a “mass leader,” a sentiment echoed by other government officials and ministers during the session. Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, along with BRS MLAs Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, and BJP’s Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy, also paid their respects, reflecting on Gopinath’s kindness and deep connection to the underprivileged.
The assembly’s tribute underscored Gopinath’s significant legacy and the void he leaves behind in Telangana politics. His contributions and dedication to public service have resonated deeply within the community, marking him as a pivotal figure in the region’s political landscape.
As the assembly session concluded, the heartfelt tributes served to honor a leader whose life was characterized by commitment to his constituents and unwavering service to the people of Jubilee Hills. The loss of Gopinath is not only felt by his family but also by a constituency that benefited from his genuine care and efforts.
