Shocking Betrayal: Bengaluru Firm’s Manager Arrested for Stealing Valuables
The Jayanagar police have apprehended a 40-year-old manager, Karthik, suspected of stealing significant valuables from his workplace over the past few years. Authorities recovered approximately 1.4 kilograms of gold and 1 kilogram of silver, collectively valued at ₹89.09 lakh. Karthik had been employed for two decades at a private firm owned by Ashok Paras Rampuria.
According to police reports, Karthik, a resident of Tyagarajanagar, exploited his lengthy tenure at the firm, which is located in Jayanagar’s 4th Block. Mr. Rampuria, frequently out of town, was unaware of the thefts occurring under his roof. It is alleged that Karthik managed to duplicate a key to the cupboard where the valuables were stored, allowing him to pilfer small amounts over time without suspicion.
The illicit activities came to light on July 26 when Mr. Rampuria noticed discrepancies in his inventory and promptly filed a complaint with the local police. In response, the police initiated surveillance on Karthik and eventually caught him in the act, allegedly with the duplicate key in his possession.
Officials stated that Karthik pawned the stolen items to alleviate his financial burdens, leading to further inquiries into his motives and possible debts. This theft has raised questions about security measures within workplaces where employees have access to significant assets.
As investigations continue, law enforcement is urging businesses to evaluate their security protocols to prevent similar incidents. Authorities are also reassuring the public that they are taking comprehensive measures to address theft and uphold safety within the community.
This case highlights the risks associated with employee theft, particularly in environments where trust is paramount. As situations like these unfold, it serves as a reminder to maintain vigilance in both personal and professional settings to safeguard valuable assets.
For anyone with information regarding similar thefts, the Jayanagar police encourage immediate communication to help them maintain community safety.
