Assam CM’s Bold Vision at BJP Meet in BTR Sparks Excitement and Hope
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presented the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) strategic plans during a victory meeting in Mazargaon, situated in the Mathanguri constituency of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Speaking to party workers and members of the media, CM Sarma revealed that the BJP intends to hold outreach meetings across all 40 BTR constituencies by August 20, with candidate selections set to take place on August 21 or 22.
“These meetings aim to evaluate our electoral strengths and challenges at the grassroots level,” CM Sarma emphasized. He also took a jab at the opposition, stating, “It’s confusing to even talk about the Congress. By the time elections arrive in April, one might struggle to even identify who represents them.”
Sarma underscored the BJP’s rising popularity, claiming, “The BJP has already reached deep into the hearts of the people.” In addition, he reiterated his government’s commitment to land reclamation, noting that more than 29 lakh bighas of land in Assam remain under encroachment.
“Evictions cannot happen overnight. After Uriamghat, similar operations will be conducted in Lakhimpur and Guwahati. If this continues for another 5–6 years, we can recover all encroached land,” he noted. The Chief Minister affirmed that all eviction efforts are in accordance with High Court orders and existing legal frameworks.
“Himanta Biswa Sarma never retreats,” he stated firmly, hinting that the ongoing drive may extend to the Manas National Park. Addressing regional political dynamics, Sarma mentioned that both the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) should participate in the elections, as the BTR forms their key political base.
Regarding the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), he remarked, “AGP should contest to win, not merely to defeat the BJP. They have my best wishes.” The event also saw the presence of senior party figures, including Minister Ranjit Kumar Dass and BTR Executive Member Gautam Das, underscoring the importance of this gathering in the BJP’s extensive electoral mobilization efforts.
