Empowering Dreams: Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation Partners with Google Play to Ignite Future Game Developers!
A new partnership aims to bolster digital skills in Tamil Nadu, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation and tech giants Google Play and Unity. The formal agreement was established in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin at the Secretariat in Chennai. This initiative will provide specialized training to 250 final-year computer science students, positioning them to excel in the fast-evolving field of game development.
Under the ‘Google Play and Unity Game Developer Training Programme,’ participants will be guided through comprehensive training sessions tailored for game developers, artists, and programmers. The official release highlighted the partnership’s commitment to enhancing the employability of students in Tamil Nadu by equipping them with essential skills to thrive in a competitive digital landscape. Kunal Soni, Director of Google Play APAC Scaled Partner Management & Ecosystem Partnerships, and Aditi Chaturvedi, Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Platforms & Devices at Google India, were present to witness the signing, underscoring the collaborative effort between the public and private sectors.
In a related development, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin also visited Nehru Park in Kilpauk, Chennai, to review the construction of a para-badminton court. This facility is part of a larger initiative aimed at developing infrastructure for para-sports across Tamil Nadu. The para-badminton court is being established at a significant investment of ₹2.38 crore, with additional infrastructure projects planned in five other districts, each receiving ₹1 crore to support the growth of sports for differently-abled individuals.
These programs reflect the government’s commitment to fostering both technological advancement and inclusivity in sports, addressing the skill gap in the tech sector while promoting accessibility for athletes with disabilities. By engaging with industry leaders, Tamil Nadu aims to set a benchmark in skill development, nurturing a generation of adept professionals ready to contribute to the digital economy.
Published on July 29, 2025, this initiative is not only a step forward in enhancing the skills of young professionals in the state but also enriches the broader goal of establishing Tamil Nadu as a hub for innovation and inclusivity across various sectors.
