Pakistan Reclaims Shaheen Afridi for T20I Showdown in West Indies!
LAHORE, July 25: Pakistan’s cricket selectors have made significant changes to the team for the upcoming T20 series against the West Indies, announcing the return of fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi. Afridi had been sidelined from several recent T20 series but is now back in the squad, joined by fellow fast bowlers Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf, who also missed the recent series in Bangladesh. Mohammad Rizwan will continue to captain the One-Day International (ODI) team during this tour, which underscores his leadership role in the squad.
Top batsman Babar Azam remains a key player, retained for the three ODIs. The T20 matches are set to take place from July 31 to August 3 in Florida, followed by the ODIs in Trinidad. Notably, three young pacers-Abbas Afridi, Ahmed Daniyal, and Salman Mirza-who participated in the T20 series in Bangladesh have not been included for the West Indies tour.
The Pakistan T20 squad consists of Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Muhammad Haris, Muhammad Nawaz, Sahabzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Sufyan Muqim. Meanwhile, the ODI squad features Muhammad Rizwan (captain), Babar Azam, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Muhammad Haris, Naseem Shah, Muhammad Nawaz, Saim Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Sufyan Muqim.
