Empowering Change: Meghalaya CM Distributes Mobile Phones and Aids in Samanda Village
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma visited Samanda village in the East Garo Hills district, where he took significant steps to improve health and education in the area. During his visit, he distributed mobile phones to Anganwadi workers, which is expected to enhance grassroots implementation of health, nutrition, and early childhood development programs, especially in rural and remote locations.
In his effort to ensure that children have access to safe drinking water, the chief minister also provided IIT-developed ECO H2O water filters to Anganwadi centers. This initiative is part of a broader program aimed at supporting rural communities.
Earlier in the day, Sangma extended financial assistance under the CM CAREs (Comfort, Assist, Respect, Empowerment) scheme to senior citizens, single mothers, and individuals with disabilities. This financial aid aims to provide much-needed support to vulnerable groups in Samanda.
Additionally, the inauguration of the new building for St. George Higher Secondary School marked a pivotal moment for education in the village. Describing the facility as a “symbol of commitment to nurturing young minds,” the CM expressed hope that the new infrastructure would inspire students to engage in learning and creativity.
Furthermore, M-Tabs, which are digital learning aids, were distributed to students at the school. This move reinforces the state government’s commitment to promoting digital education and equipping students with modern learning tools, significantly impacting the educational landscape of Meghalaya.
