In a tragic incident in Haryana’s Panchkula, six members of a family from Dehradun were found dead inside their parked car, while a seventh member died shortly after being discovered. The family was reportedly struggling with significant financial debt, prompting suspicions that this may have led to their demise.
Late Monday night, 42-year-old Praveen Mittal and his family were returning home after attending a spiritual event at Bageshwar Dham when their car was noticed parked suspiciously by a local resident. The observer remarked on a towel hanging from the vehicle and approached Mittal, who claimed they had been unable to find accommodations and decided to sleep in the car.
Upon closer inspection, the local resident was horrified to discover six bodies inside the vehicle, including those of three children. The air was thick with a foul smell, and Mittal, who appeared semi-conscious, was trembling as he revealed that they had entered into a suicide pact due to overwhelming debt. Tragically, shortly after revealing this, he also succumbed.
Authorities were alerted, and police found a two-page suicide note written by Praveen, expressing deep despair over his financial situation. He mentioned being bankrupt and instructed that his family should not be subjected to harassment. The note also stated that his cousin would handle the last rites.
Investigations revealed that Praveen had taken out a large loan, estimated at around Rs 1 crore, which he could not repay. Relatives disclosed that he had been out of touch for years and recently ventured into a taxi business that failed to bring financial relief. Eyewitness accounts and police reports are currently being compiled to understand the full context surrounding this heartbreaking event.
