India-Pakistan Tensions Rise: Pakistani Official Ordered to Leave in 24 Hours
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has announced that the opposition will question the government at the upcoming all-party meeting regarding claims made by U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump asserted that his administration played a role in brokering a “ceasefire” between India and Pakistan. Kharge, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, emphasized the need for an all-party meeting to address the ongoing border tensions between the two nations.
Speaking to reporters in Kalaburagi, Kharge remarked, “Trump is making claims to take credit. The Prime Minister and the central government are denying it. This is a sensitive issue.” He plans to raise the matter during the all-party meeting, including inquiries about recent telephone conversations related to the conflict.
When asked whether Prime Minister Modi had succumbed to Trump’s mediation, Kharge chose not to comment extensively, saying, “It’s not appropriate for me to discuss it now. Our party meeting is today. I intend to ask the central government to convene an all-party meeting; let’s see how they respond.”
India and Pakistan reached an understanding on Saturday to put an end to military hostilities following four days of intense cross-border drone and missile exchanges. The opposition’s push for answers highlights the complexities surrounding international diplomacy and regional security, underscoring why these discussions are vital.
