Samsung TV Sales Surge Past Rs 10,000 Cr in 2024: Targeting Ambitious Double-Digit Growth in Premium Segment
Consumer electronics giant Samsung is poised for impressive growth in 2025, driven by a surge in premium TV sales. The company’s television revenue exceeded ₹10,000 crores in 2024, and it aims to capture about one-third of the Indian TV market by capitalizing on the growing demand for larger screens and advanced features, as explained by Viplesh Dang, Senior Director and Head of VD Business.
While 2024 was challenging for the TV industry, marked by a sales decline, Samsung remains optimistic. Dang noted that the company has observed “green shoots” in the market and anticipates low single-digit growth overall. “We expect to outperform market growth, targeting double-digit growth this year,” he stated in an interview with PTI.
Samsung’s recent launch of the 2025 lineup features ultra-premium TVs equipped with the innovative Vision AI technology, designed to enhance user experience through personalization and smarter screen capabilities. “We are democratising AI, expanding our product lineup to meet consumer aspirations for larger screens and advanced technology,” Dang added, emphasizing that demand for large-screen TVs is rising even in smaller Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
In response to shifting consumer preferences, Samsung recognizes a trend where 55-inch TVs are becoming more mainstream. The market is also evolving towards larger sizes, with models exceeding 75 inches gaining traction. “As we introduce 100-inch and 115-inch TVs, we expect the market to upsize itself, creating substantial value growth,” Dang explained.
Looking ahead, Samsung’s accomplishments in 2024 were noteworthy, as its TV unit shipments surpassed 11 million. Dang proudly highlighted the company’s unique achievement as the only brand to cross the ₹10,000 crore revenue milestone. The new range includes Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, OLED, and The Frame TVs, starting at ₹49,490 and reaching up to ₹11 lakh. These models feature AI technology that optimizes picture quality and sound while adapting to user preferences and ambient conditions.
Counterpoint Research reported a significant 10% drop in the Indian TV market in 2024, attributed to weak consumer sentiment and a slowdown in the replacement cycle. Nevertheless, a growing preference for larger screens indicates a shift towards a more immersive viewing experience, with shipments of TVs sized 55 inches and above increasing by approximately 12% year-over-year.
As Samsung competes against brands like Sony, LG Electronics, TCL, and Panasonic, the company continues to strengthen its position in the premium sector. Analysts expect stable overall shipments in 2025, with moderate single-digit growth predicted for the market. The second half of the year could see a rebound due to festive demand and consumer upgrades to premium devices, particularly within the ₹40,000 to ₹70,000 price range.
Samsung is strategically focused on leveraging its premium offerings to foster growth in a challenging market landscape. With a commitment to innovation and an understanding of evolving consumer preferences, the company is set to lead the charge in redefining the television experience in India.
