Discover the Serene Beauty of Tripura: Chief Minister Invites Tourists to Explore a Peaceful Paradise

Agartala: Peace in Tripura has paved the way for a vibrant tourism industry, with Chief Minister Manik Saha urging both locals and travelers to explore the state’s vast and diverse attractions. Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for tourism infrastructure projects worth ₹67 crore in Chabimura, Gomati district, Saha highlighted a remarkable increase in tourist footfall, attributing it to enhanced security and improved amenities.

“Tripura has turned a significant corner, moving beyond its troubled past,” Saha stated, referencing the surrender of insurgent organizations like the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF). The northeastern state, long marred by conflicts since the 1990s, is now recognized as a peaceful destination, reflected in a considerable rise in tourist arrivals—from 500,000 in the previous year to an impressive 700,000 in the fiscal year 2024-2025. Saha emphasized improved law and order as a key factor in this growth.

To further bolster safety and enhance the visitor experience, the government is considering establishing a dedicated tourist police force. “Safety is paramount for travelers, and we are committed to addressing that concern,” the chief minister added. He stressed that tourism can serve as a strong driver for economic growth in rural areas, reaffirming his government’s focus on developing this sector.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury aligned with Saha’s vision, detailing several new initiatives aimed at boosting Tripura’s tourism infrastructure. Planned developments include modern amenities at Fatik Sagar and Amar Sagar, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Proposed features comprise a state-of-the-art cafeteria, boating facilities, a scenic walking trail, and 16 well-equipped cottages, all aimed at enhancing the region’s appeal to tourists.

Moreover, Chowdhury revealed the central government has allocated ₹97.70 crore under the Swadesh Darshan scheme for the development of a cluster of 51 Shakti Peeths in Bandower, Gomati district. Additionally, ₹48 crore has been approved for creating an eco-tourism destination at Sachindranagar in West Tripura. “Once these projects are completed, they will significantly transform Tripura’s tourism landscape,” he stated.

With its rich blend of spiritual, ecological, and historical attractions, Tripura is positioning itself as a must-visit destination in India’s northeastern region. The combination of improved safety, modern amenities, and a renewed focus on tourism development marks a turning point for the state, echoing a message of resilience and hope for both visitors and residents alike. As Tripura strides into this new era of peace and opportunity, the allure of its diverse landscapes and culture awaits discovery by travelers seeking enriching experiences.

This revitalization of the tourism sector not only promises a boost for the local economy but opens avenues for cultural exchanges and promotes the unique heritage of Tripura. The state’s commitment to sustainable tourism and infrastructure development signals a promising future for both visitors and the communities they engage with.
