Fashion’s Night of Honor: The Met Gala Celebrates Black Style in All Its Glory
Last night, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York ignited with a dazzling display of Black history, culture, and sartorial splendor as the annual Met Gala unfolded, despite a sprinkle of rain attempting to rain on this chic parade. This year’s theme, “Tailored for You,” was a heartfelt homage to the Costume Institute’s exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” a lush exploration of Black dandyism that traces roots all the way back to the zoot suit craze of the 1940s.
