Heartbreaking Pahalgam Attack: The Tragic Loss of Beloved Bharath Bhushan Shatters a Tight-Knit Bengaluru Community
In a tragic turn of events, Bengaluru mourns the loss of Bharat Bhushan, a victim of the terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22, 2025. Bhushan’s death abruptly ended the vibrant camaraderie of ‘Seven Colours’, a close-knit group of seven friends renowned for their enduring bond. Despite being scattered across the globe, with four members in Bengaluru and three abroad, they maintained their connection through regular WhatsApp interactions, planning reunions, sharing cherished memories, and offering each other support through life’s ups and downs. “Bharath was the heart of the group — charming, lively, and among the brightest of us,” remembered Srujan, a founding member, during an interview with The Hindu.
Bhushan’s journey started over 15 years ago with friendships forged at the Infosys campus. While he thrived in the corporate world, his aspirations recently shifted towards entrepreneurship alongside his wife, Sujatha Bhushan, a medical practitioner. She had just opened a polyclinic that Bhushan intended to support and expand. His transition from a successful private-sector career to entrepreneurship was motivated by a desire to embrace new challenges with optimism and determination.
His dedication to social causes was evident back in 2014 when he founded an innovative start-up aimed at connecting blue-collar workers to job opportunities, inspired by existing online job portals. This initiative not only indicated his concern for social equity but also managed to capture significant attention and funding. Umesh, another member of the Seven Colours, shared memories of Bhushan’s adventurous spirit and generosity, recalling, “He was an excellent swimmer and had personally taught many of us, including Srujan. He lived life fully and gave generously.”
Just ten days before the tragedy, Bhushan celebrated his birthday, a joyful occasion that will now remain a bittersweet memory for his family. Last year, he also celebrated his son’s second birthday, an event that underscored his role as a loving father and devoted family man.

As friends and family grapple with their loss, they remember a man who lived life with unwavering joy and generosity, enriching the lives of those around him.
