Prof. Achyuta Samanta Honored with Prestigious 7th Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Award 2025 in Assam
In a grand ceremony at Barama College in Baksa, Professor Achyuta Samanta, a distinguished educationist and social reformer, was honored with the 7th Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Award 2025. This esteemed award, presented on the 166th birth anniversary of the revered Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma, acknowledges individuals who have made remarkable contributions to social reform and community upliftment.
Under the auspices of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Government, the Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Trust bestows this award, which comes with a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000, an Eri shawl, an Aronai, a citation, and a memento. These honors symbolize the recognition of outstanding social contributions.
Professor Samanta, who previously represented Kandhamal, Odisha as a Member of Parliament, has gained global recognition for establishing the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS). KISS stands out as the world’s largest free residential educational institute, devoted to providing education to tribal children. Highlighting his dedication to sports as well, Professor Samanta currently leads as the President of the Volleyball Federation of India.
Presiding over the award ceremony, BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro presented the award to Professor Samanta, celebrating his enormous contributions to education and social service. The event saw the attendance of influential figures such as Dipen Boro, President of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), and Dr. Ajit Kr.
