Urgency Alert: Trump Administration’s 30-Day Rule Forces All Foreign Nationals, Even 14-Year-Olds, to Register Now!
The United States is reinforcing its regulations for immigrants, as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has renewed its call for all foreign nationals to comply with the ‘Alien Registration Act.’ This mandate applies to everyone, including minors aged 14 and above, who must register or face legal repercussions. As part of this effort, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem reminded all foreign visitors and residents in the U.S. for more than 30 days or those entering the country to register with federal authorities under the act. Those already in the country for over 30 days should have registered by April 11, while new arrivals as of April 11, 2025, must do so within 30 days of their entry.
The law stipulates that failing to register constitutes a criminal act, which may result in fines or imprisonment. In addition, individuals who turn 14 in the United States are required to “re-register and submit fingerprints within 30 days of their 14th birthday, even if they have previously registered.” Parents are also responsible for registering minors under the age of 14 if they stay in the U.S. for 30 days or longer.
Highlighting the importance of this measure, Kristi Noem emphasized, “President Trump and I have a clear message for those in our country illegally: leave now. If you leave now, you may have the opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American dream.” She reiterated the Trump administration’s commitment to upholding immigration laws strictly and consistently, asserting, “We must know who is in our country for the safety and security of our homeland and all Americans.”
The DHS issued a stern warning to foreign nationals who do not comply with the registration requirement despite having stayed in the country for over 30 days, stating, “there will be no sanctuary for noncompliance.” This reinforces the executive order signed by President Donald Trump on January 20, 2025, titled ‘Protecting the American People Against Invasion.’ The order seeks to implement immigration laws rigorously against “all inadmissible and removable aliens, particularly those aliens who threaten the safety or security of the American people.”
This initiative is part of broader efforts to manage immigration and bolster national security, ensuring that the federal government maintains accurate records of all foreign nationals in the U.S. The Alien Registration Act remains a critical component of these measures, underscoring an ongoing strategy to enhance the safety and security landscape for American citizens. As the DHS continues to enforce these regulations, the message is clear: compliance with immigration laws is not optional but a crucial part of maintaining order and security within the United States.
