The SC observed that even if a large number of people disagree with someone’s views, the right to express them must be respected and protected.
Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty also weighed in on the debate, stating that the Gujarat riot and Godhra were an integral part of Indian history. “Freedom of expression is the cornerstone of democracy,” he said, emphasizing the importance of allowing individuals to express themselves, even if their views are unpopular.
The controversy surrounding “L2: Empuraan” has sparked concerns about the erosion of the freedom of expression in India.
