Techie’s Brutal Murder-Suicide in Bengaluru: Wife’s Throat Slit in Bizarre Crime
Police Corner Bengaluru Killer-Husband in Pune, Hospitalise Him for Treatment
The murder of a Bengaluru housewife, whose body was found stuffed in a trolley bag, has taken a shocking turn as her techie husband, Rakesh Rajendra Khedkar, 36, has been arrested by the Maharashtra Police after consuming poison to avoid capture. The Karnataka Police remained in constant touch with Rakesh, guiding the Maharashtra Police to his location and ensuring his detention near Pune.
According to the investigation, Rakesh slit the throat of his 32-year-old wife, Gauri Rajendra Khedkar, and stabbed her in the abdomen at their residence. He then packed her body into a trolley bag, leaving a trail of blood and deceit. His attempt to cover his tracks by calling the police and his landlord, as well as his wife’s parents, to confess to the crime, was futile.
The Karnataka Police were swift in their response, tracking Rakesh’s movements and maintaining contact with him until his arrest. DCP (South East) Sarah Fathima played a crucial role in ensuring Rakesh’s detention and subsequent hospitalization. The police’s coordination with the Maharashtra Police led to Rakesh’s capture, and he is currently receiving treatment at a Pune hospital.
The gruesome crime came to light on Thursday, and Rakesh’s attempt to portray his wife’s death as a suicide was exposed by the police’s diligence. The case highlights the importance of police cooperation across jurisdictions, as well as the devastating consequences of domestic violence.
With Rakesh’s medical condition being closely monitored, the Karnataka Police will bring him back to Bengaluru once doctors give him medical clearance. The police’s success in apprehending Rakesh and foiling his suicide attempt is a testament to their professionalism and commitment to justice.
