Security Forces Uncover Deadly Arsenal in Manipur, Foiling Terror Plots and Ensuring Citizens’ Safety
Security forces in Manipur, India, have made significant strides in the fight against illegal arms and militant activity, with multiple operations yielding impressive recoveries of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. On March 28, security personnel conducted area domination exercises in the hill and valley districts, resulting in the confiscation of a substantial cache of weaponry.
In one operation, personnel seized a range of firearms, including an Excalibur rifle, carbine machine gun, and 7.65mm pistol, along with several thousands of rounds of ammunition. Additionally, the team recovered a No. 36 hand grenade, a hand grenade detonator, and 15 packets of Power Gel explosives. The haul also included two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), weighing approximately 3.42 kilograms. The operation, which took place in the Naranseina and Sunusiphai village area under Moirang Police Station, Bishnupur District, led to the confiscation of a substantial quantity of security gear, including 17 bulletproof helmets, 26 bulletproof plates, and 10 bulletproof jackets.
In another operation, at Wabagai Buffalo Farm under Kakching Police Station, Kakching District, security forces recovered a single-barrel gun, six 5.56 INSAS live rounds, and three 12-bore live rounds. The team also seized three Chinese grenades, a Molotov cocktail, and an HE 36 hand grenade, along with various other explosive devices and a tear gas hand grenade. The haul also included 27 empty .303 caliber cases and 13 empty 7.62mm cases, as well as various tear smoke shells and a TPT-T5 handset.
In Kamu village, Mapithel Ridge under Thoubal Dam Police Station, Imphal East District, security forces discovered a cylindrical-shaped IED with 11 kilograms of explosives, two Pumpi Improvised Explosive Firing Devices, and four large and three small Pumpi Improvised Mortar Bombs. The team also recovered a digital day sight with a telescopic bubble for elevation, a telescopic day sight, and an improvised mortar parts set, as well as various other recovered items, including 32 fired 12-bore cases, a 12-bore live round, and 20 meters of Cortex wire.
These operations reflect the ongoing efforts of security forces to curb illegal arms and militant activities in the region. Authorities have intensified surveillance and continue to conduct search operations to ensure peace and stability.
