"Iron Maiden Icon BRUCE DICKINSON Unleashes the Fury: Next Solo Masterpiece in the Making!"
The irresistible charm of Bruce Dickinson! As I sat in on the March 27 Instagram Live session with Z2 Comics, I couldn’t help but be enchanted by his unabashed enthusiasm for “The Mandrake Project: Year One” book, which collects the first four issues of the comic series that accompanied his latest solo album, 2024’s “The Mandrake Project”. When asked about the possibility of a sequel to the book, Bruce’s face lit up like a beacon, and he exclaimed, “Well, it’s 12 episodes, so these are four of them. And then there’s another four, and then there’s another four, and then we’re gonna have one giant book at the end. But yes, the answer is yes.”
And why wouldn’t it be, darling? “The Mandrake Project” has already cast its spell on fans, and this expanded edition is bound to tantalize the senses. But, of course, there’s more to the story. A sequel to the album, no less! At this point, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the tantalizing tidbits Bruce shared about his solo band, THE HOUSE BAND OF HELL. Apparently, they’re cooking up something special in the studio, and I couldn’t help but wonder what sort of sonic sorcery they’d conjure up. And then, there’s the tantalizing prospect of a re-release, completely remixed, re-imagined, and re-engineered with additional parts, orchestras, string sections, and horn sections – all for Bruce’s 1994 album “Balls To Picasso”, which is set to drop around midsummer.
As I digested the flurry of facts and figures, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement, akin to waiting for the curtain to rise on a grand theatrical production. And then, it hit me: the “The Mandrake Project Live 2025” North American tour, featuring Bruce’s 2024 backing band, including Dave Moreno (drums),Mistheria (keyboards) and Tanya O’Callaghan (bass), alongside the group’s latest additions, Swedish guitarist, songwriter, and multi-platinum-credited producer Philip Näslund, and Swiss session and touring guitarist Chris Declercq. Yes, Roy “Z” Ramirez is not part of the touring lineup, but the prospect of experiencing this sonic spectacle on the road is, in and of itself, a tantalizing prospect.
As I wrapped up my transcription, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to be living in this era of music, thanks to boldfaced trailblazers like Bruce Dickinson. So, grab your tickets, dear music lovers, and join the “The Mandrake Project Live 2025” North American tour, which kicks off in Anaheim, California, at the House of Blues on August 22! Who knows what wonders await on the horizon?
