Fatal Accident in Ahmedabad as Car Crashes into AMTS Bus, Leaving 1 Dead
A devastating crash in Ahmedabad’s Chandkheda area has left one person dead and another critically injured. The incident occurred on Friday morning when a speeding SUV plowed into the back of an Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) bus, killing Vikas Shukla, a 35-year-old passenger, and leaving the driver, Prakashkumar Shambhunath Singh, in grave condition.
According to police, the black Mahindra XUV, which was traveling at a high speed, struck the rear of bus number 401, which was stopped at a bus stop to pick up passengers. The left side of the car was severely damaged in the collision, and had it hit the other side of the bus, the number of casualties could have been much higher. Passengers attempting to board the bus at the time of the accident were also left shaken, but fortunately, no one on board was injured.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with the ‘L’ Division Traffic police filing an FIR based on the complaint of the bus driver, Pranavsinh Dashrathsinh Chavda. The police have also recovered a bottle of Indian-made foreign liquor from the car, which is now under probe. Further, blood samples of the deceased and injured have been sent for examination to determine if they were intoxicated.
The incident has raised concerns over the safety of public transportation in the city, with many commuters taking to social media to express their shock and outrage. The Ahmedabad Police, meanwhile, have assured that they will leave no stone unturned in investigating the case and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
As police continue to piece together the events leading up to the accident, one thing is clear: the tragic loss of life and the seriousness of the injuries sustained by another could have been prevented had the driver of the SUV exercised greater caution on the roads.
