Inter-School Sports Competition Kicks Off in Aghunato with a Grand Start
The four-day Inter-School Sports Competition under Aghunato sub-division, themed “Bridging Schools, Building Champions,” commenced on March 26 at Aghunato Ground, Aghunato. This spirited event brings together eight participating schools, with nearly a thousand students showcasing their athletic prowess in football, badminton, volleyball, and relay races. The competition is organized by Aghunato Town Students’ Union (ATSU) in collaboration with heads of offices under Aghunato sub-division and supported by the Nagaland Super League (NSL).
The event was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) D Robin, who encouraged students to embody resilience, teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship throughout the competition. He also expressed gratitude to the heads of offices, other officials, and well-wishers for their support. The ADC appreciated the Branch Manager of SBI for extension of patronage to the Nagaland Super League to Aghunato. The organizing committee and officials’ collective effort has made this event possible, which will continue until March 29.
The inaugural function also paid tribute to the late N William Koso, Nagaland’s first AFC A-License Coach, who passed away on March 25. Nitsato K Yepthomi, President of ATSU, delivered the welcome address, while Awoka Awomi, Sports Secretary of ATSU, led the oath-taking ceremony. The event saw a football match between Mount Stephen School and Snowfield School, Aghunato, getting underway immediately after the inauguration.
The organizers have planned an exciting four-day competition, with a slew of events lined up. The event will provide a platform for students to build relationships, compete, and grow as individuals. As the competition unfolds, the spirit of fair play, teamwork, and camaraderie will be the guiding forces, shaping the experience of the participants. With the winning spirit palpable, this grand event promises to be a memorable one for the students, officials, and spectators alike.
