In an impressive display of athletic prowess, Kipa Mero, a talented athlete from Arunachal Pradesh, secured the top spot in the javelin throw event at the ongoing Khelo India Para Games 2025 in New Delhi. The 22-year-old athlete, competing in the F13 category, threw the javelin a distance of 22.46 meters to claim the gold medal, according to chef de mission Nada Apa. Not to be outdone, fellow Arunachal athlete Likha Ako also made a strong showing, finishing sixth in the F category with a throw of 14.96 meters. The silver and bronze medals were won by Gangavva Neelap Harijar of Karnataka and Rajashri Shankar Kasdeka of Maharashtra, respectively.
Mero’s remarkable performance was just one of several noteworthy achievements by Arunachal athletes at the Games. Lokam Angam, also from Arunachal, secured the sixth position in the women’s shot put event with a throw of 3.86 meters, while Mala Cheri finished fifth in the 200-meter race with a time of 37.47 seconds.
