A Scent of Cooperation: Vietnam Welcomes Assam’s Unique Joha Rice

In a significant step towards fostering cultural and economic ties, a prominent Vietnamese company, LeKha Distributor Co. Ltd., has partnered with Assam to introduce the region’s famed Joha rice to Vietnamese consumers. The first consignment of 1,000 kilograms of Joha rice is expected to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City by early April.

The partnership is built on a foundation of mutual appreciation, with LeKha Director Le Trong Kha praising Assam’s natural farming practices, which avoid chemical fertilizers and pesticides, resulting in superior-tasting products. “This collaboration goes beyond products – it reflects the values and culture of Assam,” Kha emphasized, highlighting the sincerity and goodwill of the people of the region.

LeKha Distributor plans to introduce Assam’s organic products, including Joha rice, through its e-commerce platform, LeKhaMart, and explore broader global markets. Jingshahi Enterprise, the Assam-based partner in this initiative, expressed optimism about the venture. “We have been working in agriculture for five years, and we’re in talks with other market leaders to expand the reach of Assam’s produce,” said Director Rajiv Medhi, who noted that samples of Assam’s agricultural offerings have already received favorable feedback in other countries.

The shipment of Joha rice to Vietnam marks a milestone for the venture, which also strengthens economic ties between the two regions. Medhi, a native of Kamrup district, pointed out that Assam’s trade environment has improved significantly in recent years, fostering entrepreneurship and creating opportunities for growth. “With initiatives like Advantage Assam 2.0 gaining global attention, the stage is set for us to create a sustainable future,” he added.

This collaboration not only provides Vietnamese consumers with access to Assam’s unique and eco-friendly agricultural products but also showcases the potential of cross-border partnerships.
