However, her name was linked to a gangster in 2013, and she was accused of being a suspect in a ₹2000 crore international drug racket. Although she was cleared of all charges in 2024 due to lack of evidence, the controversy had a profound impact on her career.
After her return to India in 2025, Kulkarni was appointed as the Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara, but was expelled just seven days later. The actress has since dedicated herself to yoga and is now living in Kenya.
