Shocked India: Friends Arrested for Heinous Abuse of 3-Year-Old Daughter, Horrors Emerge

A 29-year-old woman and her 30-year-old male friend were arrested and booked on charges of rape and other criminal offenses, police officials announced on Saturday. The accused are alleged to have sexually abused the woman’s three-year-old daughter and recorded the heinous act on her mobile phone in Kharar, Punjab’s Mohali district.

According to investigators, the disgruntling incident came to light when the girl’s father, a businessman, discovered an obscene video of his daughter on his wife’s phone during his frequent travels abroad. He immediately reported the matter to the authorities, leading to the swift arrest of the accused.

The accused were presented before a Mohali court after their arrest on Friday and were remanded in police custody for two days. “We have booked them under sections 65/2 (rape of a woman under 12 years of age), 204 (impersonating a government official), and 351/2 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” said Mohali women’s police station in-charge Baljinder Kaur Saini.

The survivor, who is said to have been in a relationship with the male accused for over a year, had allegedly been threatened by him, claiming to be a police officer and warning her father of dire consequences if he complained about their relationship. The accused even uploaded videos of himself in police uniform and holding weapons on social media, Saini added.

The police have seized the woman’s phone and are conducting a forensic examination, while also investigating the recovery of a police uniform used by the accused. “The girl was rushed to her grandparents’ house after counseling by a psychiatrist to help her cope with the trauma,” Saini said, adding that the police remand of the accused would end on Sunday and they would be produced before a court.

The disturbing case has sent shockwaves across the region, highlighting the need for stricter measures to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation. As authorities continue to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice, the tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the prevalence of such heinous crimes in our society.
