Master Trainers Unite: A Pivotal Leap in Professional Development Concludes
Guwahati: A landmark training program on elderly care, women’s safety, and disaster management has concluded in the city, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of empowering youth with crucial social and life-saving skills. The Master Trainers’ Training Programme, organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Pandu College and the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam, concluded on March 21 with a positive note, signifying more dedicated work in the field.
The week-long program, a pilot project of the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, aimed to train NSS volunteers and program officers from 19 colleges in the Kamrup (Metropolitan) district. The event was marked by several dignitaries, including Sri Sumit Sattawan, IAS, District Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro), who was the Chief Guest of the Valedictory Programme. Other esteemed guests included Sri Kausar Jamil Hilali, IAS, and Sri Prodip Timung, ACS, the Special Secretary and Director respectively of the Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam, and Sri Prasanna Borthakur, General Secretary, Senior Citizens’ Forum.
During the training program, a total of 117 NSS volunteers and 19 program officers participated, with a balanced representation of 53 male and 64 female volunteers, as well as 9 male and 10 female program officers. The participants underwent intensive training in various aspects, including public speaking and group discussion, community singing, yoga and meditation, self-defense techniques, disaster management and first aid, elderly care, and gender sensitivity, and legal awareness, among other areas. Renowned personalities, including resource persons from various fields, conducted the technical sessions. These experts included Dr. Satyabrata Barua, Dr. Nurul Islam, Dr. Maitreyee Sarma, Dr. Angana Barua, Dr. Navaneeta Baruah, Dr. Dipanjali Haloi, and Dr. Gargi Dutta Paul, among others.
According to reports, the training program was a resounding success, with participants citing the sessions as enriching and empowering. The program not only enhanced their skills but also emboldened them with knowledge and awareness on crucial social issues. As the program concluded, the participants were equipped to take on new responsibilities, armed with the tools to make a positive impact in their communities. The event marked a significant step forward in the pursuit of social change, with the potential to create a lasting impact in the region.
