Outrage Erupts: Tripura Minister Condemns Left Front’s Silence on Hindu Persecution in Bangladesh
Tripura SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das has sparked controversy after criticizing the Left Front for its decision not to discuss atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, during their recent party conference in Kerala. In a social media post, Minister Das expressed his concerns, stating that the Left Front, along with other opposition parties, is competing for the votes of fanatical jihadis by embracing their ideals of brutality, fanaticism, and bestial violence.
Das, who is also the Minister of Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD), accused the Left Front of attempting to erase the history, culture, and tradition of Hindus. His statement came in response to a letter by Tripura CPI (M) State Committee Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury, who urged Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu to take action against the Minister for his “communal” social media post.
Das’s post referenced the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, who was responsible for the destruction of several Hindu temples and the persecution of Hindus, Marathas, and Sikhs. He also highlighted the execution of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj for refusing to convert to Islam. Das emphasized that the opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party, the Congress, and the Leftists, are promoting the same violent principles as practiced by Aurangzeb to attract votes from fanatical jihadis.
Reacting to the controversy, Das pointed out that he had not disrespected the Muslim religion, as he distinguished between two types of Muslims: nationalist Muslims who respect the Indian national flag and national anthem, and fanatical jihadis who believe in the destruction of Hindus and must be destroyed. He lamented the attacks on Hindu families in Bangladesh, including daily attacks and the targeting of Hindu women, and asked if the Leader of the Opposition, Jitendra Chaudhury, supports these atrocities.
Das reiterated that his social media post is accurate and will not be removed or altered, despite threats. He stated that the Left Front’s resolution to ignore atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, while allowing discussions on attacks on Hamas, is a clear indication of their attempt to eradicate Hindu history, culture, and tradition. Das concluded that their actions are in direct contradiction to the Indian Constitution, which does not support such erasure.
