Dilli ki Polis, Safer for Ya: Delhi Cops gets Trained to Combat Harassment, Ensure Women’s Dignity
As Delhi Police Cracks Down on Eve-Tasisting, Over 300 Personnel Receive Training
In a concerted effort to combat the scourge of eve-teasing, the Delhi Police has trained over 300 personnel at the Wazirabad Police Training Centre. The training, which took place on Wednesday, aimed to equip these personnel with the skills required to prevent, deter, and respond to such incidents with alacrity.
According to sources, each district of the Delhi Police has formed two anti-eve-teasing squads, helmed by inspector-level officers. The teams are composed of trained personnel who will focus on creating a safe public environment, free from unnecessary public scrutiny or embarrassment, for victims of such incidents. The squads will operate on a real-time basis, responding promptly to reports of eve-teasing and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
The Delhi Police has been working tirelessly to curb crime against women, including sexual harassment and molestation. The fresh initiative is part of a larger effort to foster a more secure public environment and instill confidence in the vulnerable sections of society. “We are committed to protecting the safety and dignity of all individuals, particularly women,” said a senior officer, underscoring the importance of this initiative.
The training, which lasted a day, covered a range of topics, including the importance of enforcing the law rather than imposing personal or cultural morality on individuals. The officers were also trained to detect signs of potential incidents, respond to reports, and provide support to victims.
The Delhi Police’s efforts to combat eve-teasing are part of a broader strategy to address the growing concerns of women’s safety in the city. With this initiative, the police aim to create a culture of zero tolerance for such harassment and ensure that victims receive the support and protection they need.
As the anti-eve-teasing squads take to the streets, it is clear that the Delhi Police is committed to creating a safer, more secure, and more just environment for everyone.
