Arunachal’s Bodak Village Blossoms into a Lush Oasis: Locals Plant 300+ Saplings in Effort to Create a Breathtaking Floral Haven
Bodak Village Embarks on Mission to Become Arunachal’s First Floral Village
In a bid to make Bodak village a shining example of a floral village under the Eco-Clean Mebo Mission, the residents of the village, along with their mission partner Megu Welfare Society (MWS), have successfully planted over 300 ornamental and other plant saplings of more than 30 species along the village’s surroundings and approach road to the Trans-Arunachal Highway, covering a distance of approximately 2 kilometers. The village’s family households, including office bearers and members of MWS, participated overwhelmingly in the plantation drive, making it a remarkable achievement for the ‘Pun:lek’ mission, which was launched on October 26, 2024.
According to the mission’s plan, the ‘Pun:lek’ initiative, derived from ‘Appun Alek’ (group of flower), aims to plant various flowering and ornamental trees and smaller species of flowers in the village surroundings and along the approach road to the Trans-Arunachal Highway. The project’s objective is to make Bodak village a major tourist attraction, showcasing its picturesque landscape and rich natural beauty. With its location in the northern part of Mebo Sub-Division, along the left bank of the Siang River, Bodak village’s unique setting will soon attract tourists and nature enthusiasts alike.
Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng recently mentioned the ongoing initiatives under the Eco-Clean Mebo Mission in the Arunachal State Assembly, highlighting the importance of the mission in preserving the state’s natural beauty. The MLA’s statement has further strengthened the villagers’ commitment to their mission, with officials from the Mebo civil administration supervising the progress. The residents of Bodak village are optimistic that, with the support of MWS, their efforts will lead to the transformation of their village into Arunachal Pradesh’s first floral village, making it a popular destination for tourists and a symbol of environmental sustainability.
