Holi Celebrations Marred: Tej Pratap Yadav Faces Fine for Reckless Driving amidst Festive Frenzy
Patna Traffic Cop Issues Fines to RJD Leader Tej Pratap Yadav over Traffic Offenses
In a move that has sparked controversy, Patna traffic police slapped a fine of Rs 4,000 on RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav, son of former Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, for violating traffic rules during Holi celebrations. The offense? Riding a scooty without wearing a helmet and failing to produce valid insurance and pollution certificates.
According to sources, Yadav was seen riding the scooty from Rabri Devi’s residence to CM Nitish Kumar’s residence, en route to his destination, without adhering to traffic regulations. A fine of Rs 1,000 was imposed for not wearing a helmet, while another Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 were added for the expired insurance and pollution certificates, respectively.
The fine serves as a stern reminder that traffic rules apply equally to everyone, regardless of their political standing or social position. The Patna Police have also taken disciplinary action against a constable, Deepak Kumar, who was seen dancing in uniform during a Holi celebration at the behest of Tej Pratap Yadav. A security guard deployed to escort Yadav, Kumar was ordered to dance, saying, “Hey constable, hey Deepak, we’ll play a song, you have to dance. If you don’t, you’ll be suspended. Don’t mind, it’s Holi,” according to a video that has gone viral.
The incident has ignited a political firestorm, with the ruling JD(U) and BJP criticizing Yadav for disregarding the dignity of security personnel. The viral video has sparked widespread outrage, with many condemning Yadav’s behavior as disrespectful and unbecoming of a public figure. The RJD, however, has yet to respond to the controversy.
The fine and disciplinary action against Constable Deepak Kumar serve as a stark reminder that traffic laws are enforced, regardless of one’s status or position. It remains to be seen how the controversy will unfold, but for now, it has sparked a heated debate about accountability and respect for authority.
