Union Home Minister Amit Shah Delivers Assurance of 100% Bodo Accord Implementation, Urges Bodo Youth to Prepare for Future
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing the 57th Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) at Bodofa Fwthar in Kokrajhar, has announced that 82% of the clauses of the Bodo Accord have been successfully implemented, with a commitment to achieving 100% implementation within the next two years. The notable development comes as a testament to the significant progress made in the region. The Home Minister’s statement was met with applause at the event, where around 2 lakh people were in attendance.
Despite initial skepticism from the Congress party when the Bodo Accord was signed in 2020, Shah proudly declared that 82% of its clauses have been successfully implemented so far. With federal initiatives kicking in, Shah expressed confidence that 100% implementation will be achieved within the next two years. He also credited the ABSU for their pivotal role in establishing peace in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), emphasizing that without their efforts, the Bodo Accord would not have been possible.
The Minister also underscored the importance of honoring the contributions of notable leaders like Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, proposing that a road in New Delhi will be named after him. A bust of the revered leader will also be inaugurated in the presence of all ministers, the Assam Chief Minister, and other dignitaries in the first week of April. This development is a step towards recognizing the invaluable contributions made by Upendra Nath Brahma to the region’s history and culture.
Furthermore, the Minister encouraged the Bodo youth to start preparing for the 2036 Olympics, scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad. Shah cited the recent success of the Durand Cup being hosted in Bodoland, emphasizing the region’s potential to produce top-notch athletes. The Centre has already allocated Rs 1,500 crore for the development of Bodoland, which has a population of 35 lakh. This commitment is a key part of the Central Government’s broader efforts to promote peace and development in the region.
Shah’s strong words have sent a reassuring message to the people of Bodoland, and the bold initiatives announced will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the region’s growth and progress. The Union Home Minister’s commitment to achieving 100% Bodo Accord implementation within the next two years will be closely monitored, while the Bodo youth begin to geared up for the 2036 Olympics and other global sporting events. As the region continues to move forward, one thing is clear – the Central Government is committed to making it a core part of India’s development story.
