Mumbai Triumphs: 7 Indian Restaurants Make 2025’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants’ Extended List
As the countdown to the highly anticipated 2025 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list continues, a sneak peek at the extended list has surfaced, revealing the Indian culinary scene’s most impressive participants. A total of seven Indian restaurants made the cut, with three of Mumbai’s top hotspots – Americano, The Table, and The Bombay Canteen – earning a spot among the ranks.
Among the Indian entries, Americano, helmed by chef Alex Sanchez, which debuted in 2019, secured the 71st spot, known for its innovative cuisine and cocktails in Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda arts district. The Table, a 15-year-old institution in Mumbai, re-entered the list at an impressive 88th position, following a menu revamp with the addition of chef Will Aghajanian. The Bombay Canteen, rooted in its 10-year-old philosophy, ranked 91st, drawing in not only locals but also visitors, including youngsters attending music concerts and celebrity chefs hosting pop-ups.
Newcomers to the list include Inja, Naar, and Farmlore from Delhi, Kasauli, and Bengaluru respectively. Farmlore, a farm-to-table experience in Bengaluru, took the 68th spot, focusing on seasonality, sustainability, and locally sourced produce. Inja, blending Japanese precision with Indian boldness, ranked 87th, while Naar, chef Prateek Sadhu’s 16-seater experimental eatery, secured the 66th position. This restaurant’s unique menu is influenced by the six distinct seasons in the Himalayas, using foraged herbs from nearby brooks and rivers. ITC Maurya’s Dum Pukht, a 32-year-old Delhi institution, rounded out the list at 89th, maintaining its reputation for traditional Awadhi cuisine, particularly its iconic biryani and kakori kebabs.
The Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list is set to make its official announcement, giving these and other top restaurants a nod for their culinary expertise. With Indian representation accounting for nearly 14% of the total list, the future of Indian food and drink looks bright.
