Akhilesh Yadav Fires Back at Yogi Adityanath over Ansal Group Scandal: A War of Words in Uttar Pradesh Politics
Lucknow: In the latest political row, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) over its alleged ties with real estate developer Ansal Group. The move has sparked a fierce backlash from SP President Akhilesh Yadav, who has hit back with a series of sharp barbs.
Yadav accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of trying to deflect attention from its own failures by attacking the SP and its ally, Ansal Group. “If everything was wrong, why did you go there for the inauguration instead of sending a bulldozer?” Yadav asked, in a clear reference to Adityanath’s visits to Ansal Group’s projects. The question has sparked widespread curiosity, with many asking: what secrets lie beneath the grand complex that Adityanath and his government have so brazenly targeted?
Recently, in the state assembly, Adityanath stated that if Ansal Group had defrauded even a single homebuyer, all its assets would be seized and the culprits would face severe punishment. He also accused the SP of shielding the Ansal Group, claiming that the company is a product of the erstwhile SP government. Adityanath alleged that during the SP’s tenure, Ansal’s illegal demands were met at the cost of investors and homebuyers, who were cheated. On the other hand, he claimed that his government has curtailed the company’s privileges and begun to corner it.
Yadav, however, dismissed the allegations as an attempt to hide the government’s own failures. “To hide their failures, people often invoke someone else’s name, forgetting that they themselves inaugurated the mall and hospital in the city named after that very person,” he wrote on social media. “They also hosted G20 guests at a newly built hotel in the same grand complex—the very place where billions of rupees in real investment have flowed,” he added. The SP president also warned that levelling allegations at investors and discouraging them will neither promote investment nor benefit the state.
The move has led to the registration of an FIR against M/s Ansal Properties & Infrastructure Ltd and its promoters on charges of large-scale irregularities, including land grabs, misappropriation of public property, and organised crime. The accused are alleged to have conspired to defraud the public and government by selling land illegally, threatening authorities, and failing to comply with directives from real estate regulatory authorities. As the situation continues to unfold, the attention of the discerning public is centered on the complex web of allegations and counter-allegations, with many wondering: what lies beneath the grand complex that Adityanath has so brazenly targeted?
