Assam’s Kaziranga National Park Soars to Record Heights: Exploring the Thrill of Advantage Assam 2.0
Kaziranga National Park Sees Unprecedented Surge in Tourist Footfall, Set to Break Records
Kaziranga National Park in Assam is experiencing an extraordinary uptick in tourist arrivals, shattering records this season. The park has already witnessed a staggering 2.65 lakh visitors in recent months, with the number expected to far exceed last year’s total of 3 lakh tourists. According to Kaziranga National Park Director Sonali Ghosh, the park is poised to achieve a record-breaking turnout by the end of the season.
The surge in tourism can be attributed, in large part, to the recent Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment Summit, initiated by the state government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma. The summit played a key role in promoting the world-renowned wildlife sanctuary, making it a hotspot for nature enthusiasts. Over the past five months, the park has welcomed over 2 lakh tourists, including approximately 11,000 foreign visitors.
In the last ten days alone, a notable increase in tourist arrivals has been observed, further solidifying Kaziranga’s growing popularity. With two and a half months remaining in the current tourist season, officials are optimistic about setting new benchmarks. Kaziranga’s unique biodiversity and conservation success stories continue to captivate nature lovers worldwide, reasserting its position as one of India’s premier wildlife destinations.
The park’s increasing popularity is reflected in its revenue figures. According to reports, Kaziranga generated a revenue of Rs 43,226,225 from entry fees since its reopening in October 2024, marking the highest tourist influx in the past 20 years. Typically, the park is open from October to May, taking a break during the monsoon season.
Ghosh expressed confidence in the park’s ability to surpass last year’s record, stating, “We are on track to achieve a record-breaking turnout by the end of the season.” Her sentiments are echoed by conservationists and tourists alike, who praise the park’s stunning natural beauty and commitment to conservation.
As Kaziranga National Park continues to attract visitors from around the world, it remains a testament to the region’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage and promoting sustainable tourism. With its unique biodiversity and conservation efforts, Kaziranga is poised to maintain its position as a global wildlife destination of choice.
