CBI Cracks Down on Paper Leak Scandal, Exposing Illegitimate Gains in East Central Railway Exams
Mughal Sarai, Uttar Pradesh: A major scandal shook the East Central Railway as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested 26 railway officials, including a Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Operations), in connection with a departmental examination paper leak.
The operation, which took place yesterday, targeted a coordinated effort to compromise the integrity of the upcoming examination for the post of Chief Loco Inspectors. The leak was orchestrated by the Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Operations) who, in a shocking revelation, handwrote the questions in English and handed them over to a Loco Pilot, who then translated them into Hindi. The translated papers were then handed over to an Office Superintendent (Training) who distributed them among the candidates through a network of railway employees.
According to sources, the examination was scheduled to take place today, but it was called off after the scandal came to light. The CBI, acting on a tip-off, conducted searches at eight locations, resulting in the recovery of a whopping 1.17 crore rupees in cash. This amount was reportedly collected from the candidates who had paid to gain an unfair advantage in the examination.
Twenty-six railway officials, including the Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Operations) and 17 departmental candidates, are currently in custody. The candidates, who are currently working as Loco Pilots, were caught red-handed with the copies of the question papers. This brazen scandal has sent shockwaves throughout the railway fraternity, with many expressing outrage and disappointment.
The CBI is still investigating the extent of the conspiracy and the number of individuals involved. The agency has also seized various electronic devices and documents from the accused, which will be crucial in unraveling the web of deceit. The Indian Railways has also promised a thorough internal inquiry into the matter, and appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty.
The Departmental Examination Paper Leak Scam highlights the vulnerability of the examination system and the severity of the consequences of such malpractices. It is a stark reminder of the need for continuous vigilance and greater accountability in the conduct of public examinations. The CBI’s swift action in busting the racket is a testament to its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the nation’s examination system.
