Kingpin Busted: Shocking Fake Document Scam for Bangladeshi Infiltrators Uncovered in Bengal!
Kolkata, Feb 22: In a significant breakthrough, West Bengal Police have apprehended Bipul Adhikari, the alleged mastermind behind a sophisticated racket that forged Indian identity documents for Bangladeshi infiltrators. He was arrested in Jalpaiguri district on Saturday. Adhikari, a resident of Haldibari in Cooch Behar district, played a pivotal role in illegal cross-border activities in north Bengal, particularly in areas where barbed fencing is absent.
His operations had two major revenue streams: facilitating the illegal entry of Bangladeshis into India and creating fraudulent Indian identity documents for them. Adhikari was presented in Jalpaiguri district court and remanded to three days in police custody for further interrogation, aiming to uncover other collaborators in the network.
According to law enforcement sources, Adhikari’s network involved a multi-step process to secure fake identities. Upon crossing the border, infiltrators were sheltered in villages near the Bangladesh-India border. The first document typically fabricated was a ration card, which then served as a foundation to obtain other identification such as EPIC, PAN, and Aadhaar cards, culminating in forged passports.
This revelation follows the arrest of two Bangladeshi infiltrators last month in Siliguri, Darjeeling district. During questioning, it emerged that Adhikari had facilitated their illegal entry and was in the process of securing counterfeit Indian documents for them.
Investigators have identified a consistent pattern in the operation of such rackets, targeting infiltrators willing to pay large sums for fake documents. The police remain vigilant in their efforts to dismantle this network and address the broader issue of illegal immigration and document fraud.
The arrest of Adhikari represents a critical step in countering these illegal activities and highlights the ongoing efforts of West Bengal Police in ensuring national security and integrity.
