Exciting Milestone: All Northeast States to Connect with Delhi via Rail and Air by 2027, Declares Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that all northeastern states will be connected to Delhi via rail and air by 2027. This declaration was made at the ‘Unity Utsav – One Voice, One Nation’ event, hosted by Assam Rifles in New Delhi, where Shah served as the chief guest.

During his address, Shah emphasized the significance of unity for the northeastern region, highlighting historical physical and emotional distances from Delhi. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bridging these gaps through enhanced connectivity, thereby integrating the Northeast more fully into the national fabric. Shah cited the increased budget allocations and resources devoted to the region under the Modi administration, underscoring efforts to foster development.

He praised the Northeast as a region rich with cultural diversity and resources, referring to it as “Ashtalakshmi,” with its potential to enrich India across various sectors. He pointed to the myriad opportunities available for youth in areas such as economics, culture, security, sports, and research. Shah outlined the government’s initiatives to open numerous avenues for growth in fields ranging from tourism and technology to agriculture and entrepreneurship.

The Union Minister highlighted the region’s cultural wealth, encompassing over 220 ethnic groups, more than 160 tribes, 200 dialects, unique festivals, traditional dances, and cuisines. He described this cultural tapestry as a cherished heritage for India, asserting that India and the Northeast are incomplete without each other.

The North-East Unity Festival’s theme, ‘One Voice, One Nation,’ celebrated India’s unity in diversity, exemplified by its blend of languages, cultures, and traditions. Through the five-day Unity Utsav in Delhi, this spirit of unity has been energetically showcased, reinforcing the vibrant relationship between the Northeast and the rest of India.
