Exciting Transformation: Manipur’s Governor’s Secretariat Now Thrives in Dual Locations!
Manipur Governor’s Office Operates from Dual Locations Amidst President’s Rule
In an unusual move, the Manipur Governor’s office has begun functioning simultaneously from two sites: the Raj Bhavan and the Old General Secretariat, situated about 200 meters apart in Imphal. This change comes in the wake of the state being placed under President’s Rule.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhigha, serving as the administrative head, has commenced his duties from the Old General Secretariat. Notably, adjacent to the Governor’s new workspace, Kuldiep Singh, IPS, the Security Advisor to the Manipur government, plays a pivotal role in stabilizing the region.
To enhance administrative efficiency, Governor Bhigha has tasked PK Singh, the state’s Chief Secretary, with deploying ten senior officials to support the Governor’s secretariat operations. Furthermore, the state government plans to appoint two advisors to the Governor to facilitate smooth administrative operations.
The expansion of the Governor’s secretariat has resulted in the imposition of traffic and parking restrictions around the Old General Secretariat, generating dissent among local residents due to the inconvenience caused.
This strategic relocation and reinforcement of administrative assistance occur as the state navigates the complexities of governance under President’s Rule. As Manipur adjusts to these changes, the coordinated efforts of the state’s leadership aim to maintain governance efficiency and regional stability.
