Triumphant Victory: BTS’ RM, SEVENTEEN, and (G)I-DLE Shine Bright at the 32nd Hanteo Music Awards!
The 32nd Hanteo Music Awards (HMAs) recently concluded in Seoul, celebrating the outstanding achievements of K-pop artists over the past year. Held at the Jangchung Arena on February 15 and 16, the two-day event recognized many iconic figures in the industry. Among the biggest winners were SEVENTEEN and (G)I-DLE, who clinched the grand prizes on the second day of the ceremony.
BTS’ leader, RM (Kim Namjoon), received special acclaim with the Best Hip-Hop award for his second solo album, “Right Place, Wrong People.” Released in May 2024 while he is serving in the military, RM’s album was lauded as a masterpiece transcending cultural and genre boundaries, highlighting his talent as a storyteller of this era.
The awards were hosted by Jung Jinyoung, known for “Sweet Home,” and (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon. Day 2 saw exhilarating performances from artists like 8TURN, Choi Ye Na, EVNNE, HYB, Lee Seung Yoon, LIGHTSUM, NCT WISH, RIIZE, YOUNG POSSE, and Young Tak, making it a night to remember.
Key award recipients included RIIZE, named the Artist of the Year (Bonsang) along with IU, SEVENTEEN, ZEROBASEONE, PLAVE, NewJeans, IVE, NCT Dream, and YoungTak. SEVENTEEN secured the Best Album Daesang with their project “SPILL THE FEELS,” while (G)I-DLE won the Best Song Daesang with “Fate.”
Other notable winners on Day 2 were Lee Seung Yoon (Best Band), YoungTak (Best Trot), and HYB (Great Vocal Group). Emerging Artist was awarded to EVNNE, while YOUNG POSSE was recognized as the Blooming Performance Group. The Rookie of the Year title went to NCT WISH for males and ILLIT for females.
In total, four Daesangs were awarded, with Aespa and TXT winning Best Artist and Best Performance on Day 1, respectively. The 32nd HMAs celebrated the diverse and dynamic talents shaping the K-pop landscape, leaving fans eagerly anticipating another year of musical innovation.
