Outrage as Assam MP Rakibul Hussain Allegedly Rides Government Scooty with Expired Pollution Certificate!
A bike rally led by Dhubri Lok Sabha MP Rakibul Hussain, alongside Golakganj MLA Abdus Sobhan Ali Sarkar and district Congress workers, has come under fire due to alleged violations of traffic laws. Organized to engage with residents in Golakganj, the rally is being scrutinized for allegedly misusing government-distributed vehicles and neglecting road safety regulations.
During the event, MP Hussain was reportedly seen on a red scooty with registration No. AS18L3120, which had an expired pollution certificate for over a year. This vehicle, registered in Goalpara district, was reportedly intended for meritorious female students under an Assam government scheme, raising questions about its misuse for political purposes and the legality of its use.
Local organizations, led by Afzalur Rahman, President of the Dhubri District Committee of the Garia Maria Deshi Jatiya Parishad, have strongly criticized the Assam Police for their inaction, accusing them of a “double standard in applying the law.” Rahman demanded fines and penalties for those involved, insisting on equal application of traffic laws for everyone, regardless of political status.
Participants in the rally were also spotted riding motorcycles and scooters without helmets, in clear violation of the Motor Vehicles Act. This disparity in law enforcement has sparked discontent among local residents who question why political figures seemingly evade penalties that ordinary citizens face for minor infractions.
The incident has prompted calls for increased transparency and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations, reinforcing that road safety laws should be upheld impartially, irrespective of political affiliation.
